Is There an American Standard of Child Care?

Abstract
The authors set out to test whether a scale used for research into child neglect, the Childhood Level of Living Scale, contains cultural bias in its means of judging the adequacy of child care. Their broader aim was to probe the possibility that there is a core of agreement among subcultures in this country on what constitutes minimally adequate child care.
