Abstract
Increasingly, health professionals are being called upon to be knowledgeable about and to integrate prevention and health promotion into their day-to-day practice. Working in partnership with a variety of disciplines and sectors is also an emerging reality in the health field. This paper describes a national collaborative strategy development process ‘Enhancing Preventive Practices of Health Professionals’ that involved Health and Welfare Canada and eight national health professional associations. The lessons learned from the process and the documents produced by the initiative are highlighted. Reference is made to related literature from the fields of organizational and community development. Keywords
