Abstract
This paper describes a high-speed scanning triangulation system which captures and displays range data and which operates over a wide field of view. This is facilitated by reflecting both a projected stripe and an offset imaging path from the same scanning mirror so that the stripe image position is directly related to range. Electronic hardware enables the stripe image to be analysed in real time. Three-dimensional measurement is then achieved by mechanical scanning which moves the light stripe across the scene. The use of the system to produce dense range data is described. Some limitations of system performance are discussed. Keywords
