Abstract
THIS report is based on a study of 100 autopsied cases of acute myocardial infarction that occurred during the period of 1940 through 1949. All cases had been admitted to St. Luke's Hospital either because of symptoms referable to myocardial infarction or arteriosclerotic heart disease or for some illness not associated with heart disease per se, in which instance infarction occurred during their period of hospitalization as a major complication.Method of StudyDuring the ten-year period 1940–1949, a total of 1636 autopsies were performed in this hospital.
