A Note on the Relationship between Stachybotrys and Hyalostachybotrys

Abstract

Stachybotrys aurantia Barron is compared with Hyalostachybotrys bisbyi Srinivasan. The 2 are considered conspecific with the latter name being the earlier. The taxonomic validity of the genus Hyalostachybotrys is questioned and the new combs. Stachybotrys bisbyi (Srinivasan) Barron (=Hyalostachybotrys bisbyi Srinivasan) and Stachybotrys sacchari (Srin.) Barron (=Hyalo-stachybotrys sacchari Srinivasan) are proposed.
