Abstract
The rigid ion–rigid molecule model of Parlinski is shown to give a reasonable description of the dispersion curves for ND4Cl at 85 °K with the addition of the ionic charge as a variable parameter to make a total of 11 parameters. A shell model involving 13 adjustable parameters is more satisfactory in describing the experimental values, however. Various frequency distribution functions have been calculated using the best fit rigid ion–rigid molecule model and shell model.
