Abstract
It is shown that the logarithmic rate law is found very widely in chemisorption and oxidation. A theory of this law is offered, and comparison with experiment leads to reasonable values for the parameters. Although the theory is very elementary, it is hoped that the physical interpretation it provides of experimentally determined parameters will encourage a more detailed study of these, for instance as a function of temperature and ambient pressure. Keywords
