Abstract
Attenuation of longitudinal ultrasonic waves has been measured in the amorphous metallic alloys Ni0.78P0.22 and Pd0.775Si 0.165Cu0.06 in the temperature range 0.6-7 K for various frequencies between 0.6 and 2 GHz. In the two materials the results are well described by a law of the form : α = α0(ω) + AωT + Bω2 Log T/T0. This behaviour is compared with the results obtained in glasses and with the predictions of the theories of the ultrasonic attenuation by the two-level systems and the electrons. It is shown that the ultrasonic attenuation in amorphous metals is different from that observed in crystals and amorphous insulatorsKeywords
