Abstract
Finley1reported four cases of extreme deformity of the thorax resulting in hypertrophy and dilatation of the heart with cardiac insufficiency. Another observer2reports the reverse of this sequence in a girl, aged 14, who acquired rheumatic mitral stenosis at the age of 3 and in whom increasing deformity of the spine appeared at the age of 10 years. I reported a possible case of the sequence pointed out by Finley, in the first edition of my book.3 The case now reported here is, perhaps, more convincing: REPORT OF CASE History. —A girl, aged 16, was admitted to the hospital, May 10, 1928, in an orthopneic, markedly cyanosed condition, with edema of the legs, lower abdominal wall and face.
