Caractérisation biochimique du complexe d’espèces du genre Lepus en Espagne

Abstract
By electrophoretical analysis, we show that the hares from the Iberic peninsula belong to three distinct species: Lepus europaeus in the North-east, L. castroviejoi the range of which is limited to the upper Cantabric cordillera, and L. granatensis occurring in the remainder of the Peninsula. These three taxa interact in a parapatric fashion and demonstrate a very strong genetic isolation, despite a limited differential introgression from L. castroviejoi into L. granatensis.
