The Intrauterine Device and Cervical Neoplasia

Abstract
The progression rate of cervical dysplasia to carcinoma in situ was calculated in 114 subjects wearing intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUDs) and in 221 subjects not using such a device. The progression rates in these two groups, calculated by the life table method, were not significantly different, suggesting that the IUD exerts no significant carcinogenic effect on the human uterine cervix.
