Abstract
Correspondence analysis is an exploratory multivariate technique that converts a data matrix into a particular type of graphical display in which the rows and columns are depicted as points. The method has a long and varied history and has appeared in different forms in the psychometric and ecological literature, among others. In this article we review the geometry of correspondence analysis and its geometric interpretation. We also discuss various extensions of correspondence analysis to multivariate categorical data (multiple correspondence analysis) and a variety of other data types. Keywords
