Abstract
Extract The efficiency of haloxon (3-chloro-7-hydroxy - 4 - methylcoumarin bis (2 - chloroethyl) phosphate) against ascarids and strongyles in horses has been well documented by Bosman ( 1966 Bosman, C. J. 1966. Haloxon as an anthelmintic for horses. J. S. Afr. vet. med. Ass., 37: 421–424. [Google Scholar] ), Neave ( 1970 Neave, R. M. S. 1970. Clinical use of haloxon in the horse. Equine vet. J., 2: 87–90. [Google Scholar] ) and Cook ( 1973 Cook, T. F. 1973. The anthelmintic activity of haloxon in horses. N.Z. vet. J., 21: 82–84. [Taylor & Francis Online] [Google Scholar] ). The drug is slightly effective against bots (Gasterophilus larvae) and it has been suggested that better results would be achieved by the addition of a boticide which might be effective at less that full dosage in combination with haloxon. Keywords
