Abstract
The ferromagnetic semiconductor CdCr2S4 has been prepared in the form of hot‐pressed polycrystalline samples having high optical transmission and Faraday rotation in the near‐ir spectral region. In the region 900–1400 nm, the figure of merit exceeds 60° dB−1 at 4.2 °K and 30° dB−1 at 80 °K. It is thus an efficient and potentially useful magneto‐optic material at liquid‐nitrogen temperature. Keywords
