Abstract
Dr. Altman's informative and provocative paper in this issue of the Journal is sprinkled with pertinent questions. This editorial will end with a question as well.In the meantime, the central issues that deal with human research, whether auto- or homo-experimentation, remain the same. Several criteria that should be met can be dealt with readily since the community of informed scientists and nonscientist citizens will probably agree. First of all, is the question that is raised for experimentation reasonable? (Reasonable is defined in the sense that the answer is both unknown and knowable.)
