Abstract
There is an 80-90% mortality rate within the first 2 months of the occurrence of a post-infarction ventricular septal defect (VSD) with medical treatment alone. The muscular VSD presents a technical problem for the surgeon. Surgical treatment was unsuccessful in two patients. They were treated successfully using the Amplatzer Septal Occluder, with improvement in their condition. Keywords
