Abstract
When cows were removed from sunshine, sprinkled with water and then subjected to a gentle breeze produced by a fan, they showed rapid changes toward normal body temp. and respiration rate. Shade alone showed a small change in that direction, while the fan alone and sprinkling without a fan were intermediate in their effects. The fan alone cooled the cows less rapidly than did sprinkling but at the end of 1 hr. there was little difference between the 2 methods. The results of this expt. give valuable information on how rain and wind as produced by nature tend to cool milking cows during summer months. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
