Abstract
Serious damage to the eighth nerve is related to the phenomenon known as abnormal auditory adaptation or tone decay. Using a standard pure-tone audiometer and a modification of the tone decay test, the audiologist is able to quantify the tone decay measurement. The patient responds only to stimuli having tonal quality, the best procedure in enhancing the sensitivity of the test. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
