Abstract
The rate of phosphorylation of glucose and fructose by hexokinase in isolated rat diaphragm was decreased when the pH of the medium was reduced from 7.50 to 7.00. Lowered pH did not affect the phosphorylation of fructose by fructokinase. Studies on the effects of pH on the activities of hexokinase and fructokinase in pure systems yielded results in accord with those of the expts. on rat diaphragm. Keywords
