Abstract
This paper describes research performed to determine the effect of cutting fluid on first cut surface finish in single point turning. A measure of cutting fluid lubricity was used as an independent variable as well as cutting speed, tool feed, depth of cut and replications. The dependent variable was surface roughness. Though cutting medium was not a significant main factor, it was highly significant in several interactions with the other variables. Keywords
