Abstract
On behalf of the authors of our paper, I appreciate a very interesting and important comment raised by Dr. Cheek. Although acrodynia was in our mind as a disease to be differentiated from mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome, a difference in clinical pictures (Table I) and measurement of mercury concentration in the hair of the patients with the syndrome (Table II) lead us to exclude acrodynia. It is also worthwhile to note that acrodynia has been very rare in Japan up to the present, probably due to the fact that mercury-containing products such as teething powders and lotions have never been habitually used in this country.
