Abstract
The similarities between the process of creativity in art and science and the phenomenon of insight in psychoanalysis are examined according to the four criteria of thought: categorization, abstraction, context, and association. The thesis is that both creativity and insight are based on a synthesis of the operational modes of the primary and secondary processes. Keywords
