Abstract
Microbiologic investigation is a cornerstone in the study of otitis media. The incidence of the organisms found in otitis media has been studied; however, there is little, if any, longitudinal information available from prospective studies of subjects who have recurrent otitis media and who have middle ear aspirates obtained when the disease recurs or becomes chronic. The microbiology laboratory produces data regarding the incidence of organisms and provides specimens and isolates for the immunology and biochemistry studies. Keywords
