Role Perceptions of Female Deputy Heads

Abstract
A small-scale study of female deputy heads suggests that fewer women are being confined to stereotyped roles within senior management teams in comparison with a decade ago. However, it argues that only by being selective as to which posts to apply for can women overcome role stereotypes. The research was undertaken as part of an MA dissertation in the Department of Education, Loughborough University, where Dr Hough is Dean of Education and Humanities.
