Spin determination and quantized alignment in the superdeformed bands inDy152,Tb151, andGd150

Abstract
The spin of the lowest level observed in the superdeformed band in Dy152 is determined to be I0=25 rather than the previously assigned I0=22. As a result, we have scrI(1)>scrI(2) and both scrI(1) and scrI(2) decrease very slowly with rotational frequency. From the spin determination of the two pairs of identical bands in Dy152 and Tb*151, Tb151 and Gd*150, evidence has been obtained to support the assumption of quantized alignments in units of ħ/2.
