Abstract
Two cases of nocardiosis are presented, 1 coexisting with tuberculosis and the other, with alveolar proteinosis. The value of early diagnosis and treatment is stressed. A negative tuberculin reaction with a progressive pulmonary lesion should exclude tuberculosis. The physician should be highly suspicious of infections that do not respond to commonly used drugs, infections associated with chronic disease (sarcoidosis, carcinoma of the lung, tuberculosis, leukemia, anemia, and alveolar proteinosis), and cases in which the patient was on long-term steroid treatment. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
