Abstract
Platycheirus complicatus Becker, 1889 and P. lalimanlls (Wahlberg, 1844) belong to a species group without dilated front tibiae and only slightly dilated front metatarsi in the males. The profile of the face is rather protruding and the abdominal spots yellowish brown. Just a few characters seem to separate the males of the two species. - P. monticolus Nielsen, 1972 is found to be a junior secondary homonym of Melanostoma monticola Jones, 1917, now transferred to Platycheirus. The replacement name P. boreomonlanus nom. novo is given. - A key is provided to males and females and figures of P. Iatimanus, P. complicatus and P. subordinatus are given. Keywords
