Abstract
Measurements of the initial frequency dependence (dispersion) of the velocity of sound in gaseous helium-argon mixtures are in good agreement with predictions based on the linearized Boltzmann equations. The dispersion shows a pronounced dependence on mole fraction, and this effect can probably be exploited to determine the interaction between different noble-gas atoms. Keywords
