Several prostaglandin inhibitors have substantial efficacy in treating menstrual symptoms and many patients will experience relief of multiple symptoms. The treatment regimen for most symptoms is simple and the onset of relief is rapid. Side-effects are mild and uncommon, and serious complications have not been reported with the short-term dosage regimens. These drugs appear to have an important place in the management of several menstrual disorders.
