COLD SENSITIVITY SYNDROME

Abstract
A case of hypersensitivity to cold is described in which the patient experienced sensory changes and gross edema of his hands on exposure to air temperatures of 35[degree]F and lower. Immersion of the patient''s hand in ice water produced a fall of 44 mm of Hg in systolic and 26 mm in diastolic blood pressure and a pulse increase of 22 beats per minute. The etiology could not be determined, and the only satisfactory treatment was to remove the patient to a warmer climate.
