Early Treatment of Child Incest Victims

Abstract
The author addresses the conduct of beginning psychotherapeutic work with incestuously assaulted children from preschool through adolescent ages. She sets forth a conceptualization of early treatment that includes knowledge of risk factors; identification of cases; physical and laboratory evaluations; and crisis treatment. She relates in detail specific techniques and tools used in interviewing that augment the clinician’s psychiatric understanding of the child incest victim.
