The soils from areas supporting vigorous and bearing trees and shrubs (Juniperus virginiana, Sorbus americana, Malus ioensis, Crategus punctata, Primus serotina, Cornus stolonifera and Viburnum trilobum) were analyzed for pH value, content of mineral colloids, organic matter, base exchange capacity, total and available N, available P, available K and replaceable Ca. The av. values obtained by means of statistical treatment of the results are suggested as standards for the raising of different spp. in nursery and for their planting in the field. Particular emphasis is placed on the effect of the ground water table in planting of game food trees and shrubs.
