Abstract
Conditions for an achromatic phase change upon reflection are derived in terms of the refractive indices of a quarter-wave dielectric multilayer. A numerical method of solution is indicated using a trial-and-error sequence on a digital computer. This method is extended to the simultaneous solution of achromatic amplitude, observing also the condition of a prescribed standard reflectivity valueKeywords
