Abstract
In 1979, research on defence against biological warfare (BW) became the responsibility of what is now the Chemical and Biological Defence Establishment (CBDE) at Porton. From 1940–1979 another Porton Establishment existed for such work: this paper describes the attitudes and policies associated with BW in the United Kingdom (UK) before and during that period. Keywords
