Abstract
When separating traces of aliphatic C1 to C5 amines on packed columns by gas partition chromatography, erratic results were obtained. This was caused by the occurence of ghost-peaks and non-constant responses. To eliminate these effects, fairly high amounts of isoamylacetic ester were injected into the injection-port between different calibrationruns. Besides purging the sample-line, it proved necessary to inject aliquots of the same solution at least four times to get reproducible results. This was the case for mixtures of primary and secondary as well as for tertiary amines diluted in isoamylacetic ester.
