Primary Meningeal Myxochondrosarcoma Presenting as a Cerebellar Mass

Abstract
This report describes a malignant cartilagenous tumor that originated from the dura at the base of the skull near the foramen magnum and presented as an intracerebellar mass in a 12-year-old boy. The histopathology of the tumor was confusing because of its prominent myxoid stroma and lack of well-defined cartilage. The presence of sulfated mucopolysaccharides in the matrix and the ultrastructural characteristics of the tumor cells established the cartilagenous nature of the neoplasm.
