Abstract
A novel charged-particle velocity filter of particular relevance to magnetic-transport slow positron beams has been successfully built and tested. The device employs the usual crossed electric and magnetic fields but, by incorporating a cylindrical electrode geometry, avoids the distortions and the consequent losses of intensity caused by post-filter aperturing that are common in the conventional planar electrode systems. Keywords
