Patients (3) with inflammatory linear verrucose epidermal nevus (ILVEN) were studied to better delineate the histopathologic features of this type of nevus. In all 3 cases very particular, specific histologic lesions were noted. The histologic features were depressed, cup-like areas of hypergranulosis with overlying orthokeratotic hyperkeratosis, alternating (with sharp demarcation) with raised, level areas of agranulosis with overlying parakeratotic hyperkeratosis.
