Abstract
In the present note we propose a method of solution of the nonuniform Percus–Yevick equation. It was showed that application of the Fourier transform technique to the three‐dimensional problem with a planar symmetry leads to an essentially one‐dimensional mathematical problem. In the case of hard spheres in contact with a hard wall the set of equations composed of the nonuniform Ornstein–Zernike relation, the Percus–Yevick approximation and the exact relation between the local density and the two‐particle direct correlation function was solved numerically with respect to one‐ and two‐particle distribution functions.(AIP)Keywords
