Lifetime of the0+Excited State inGe70

It is found by a delayed-coincidence measurement that part of the 1.04-Mev gamma radiation following the beta decay of ${\mathrm{Ga}}^{70}$ is delayed with a mean life of $\tau =(4.0\mathrm{}\pm 0.9)\times {10}^{-9\mathrm{}}$ sec. This lifetime is assigned to the $0^{+}$ level in ${\mathrm{Ge}}^{70}$ at 1.2 Mev which feeds the $2^{+}$ level by a 0.174-Mev $E2\mathrm{}$ transition. The observed mean life is about sixty times shorter than the Weisskopf single-particle estimate for the quadrupole transition.
