Abstract
Using a sociology of knowledge framework, this article looks at the recent increased interest in research and writing about older women. In an attempt to understand different stances and contradictory findings, the research and literature is classified into seven categories that are not necessarily mutually exclusive. Content analysis is also examined as one method of acquiring material about older women. Keywords
