Effect of Passive Warm-Up on Muscular Strength and Endurance

Abstract
The effect of passive heating on (a) muscular strength (elbow-flexion) and (b) muscular endurance (grip) was investigated on 20 and six subjects respectively. Shortwave diathermy was the source of heat and the resulting temperature changes were recorded with thermoneedles. Heating was shown to decrease strength by .5 lb., and to have no effect on endurance.
