Abstract
The relationship between testing and counseling has been called “the marriage that failed.” This article presents a form of marriage counseling, that is, a mode of test interpretation, that may assist counselors to utilize test results more effectively in counseling. Person-referenced test interpretation incorporates many standard counseling techniques while using test items as a learning media. The first portion of the article gives the rationale for the suggested approach, followed by a counseling narrative interspersed with comments on how person-referenced test interpretation is applied. Keywords
