Colloid Titration for Determining the Surface Charge of Bacterial Spores

Abstract
Two types of Bacillus megaterium spores were examined for their surface charge, which may affect the initiation of germination, by a colloid titration method. Both types of spores were negatively charged, and the magnitude of the charge increased almost linearly with spore concentration up to 4 mg/ml.
