Abstract
The response of the flame photometric detector for sulfur compounds is proportional to the square of the amount of sulfur in the flame. This characteristic is utilized to cause an 8-fold increase in the sensitivity to aldicarb and malathion at low levels by the addition of SO2 to the hydrogen of the flame. The limit of detection was also improved by a factor of 8.
