Abstract
A model is proposed for the design of software that will interact with a human operator. The model facilitates changes to the software system during its lifetime, by separating the terminal drivers, the man-machine interface and the functionality. This provides for changes of terminal through which the human operator interacts with the software, changes to the man-machine interface, and modifications or extensions to the facilities provided by the software system. Keywords
