Abstract
The Department annually surveys the immunization status of children entering kindergarten in Massachusetts. For 1974–75, the results1 compared favorably with national averages2 for that year but showed pockets of low immunization in the inner city. For the 8499 children entering kindergarten in Boston, the immunization levels found in 1974 were: 79 per cent for poliomyelitis (as compared with a national average of 73 per cent), 83 per cent for diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (85 per cent nationally) and 82 per cent for measles (72 nationally). The Department's statistics revealed that full immunization against poliomyelitis* was reported below 60 per cent in 10 Boston . . .Keywords
