Abstract
The radiological and clinical findings in three cases of neonatal Escherichia coli pneumonia complicated by pneumatocele formation are discussed. In all three of the cases the pneumatoceles occurred as the pneumonia was resolving. Radiologically, the pneumatoceles were indistinguishable from the pneumatocele formation associated with staphylococcal pneumonia. Resolution of the pneumatoceles was slow but uncomplicated.
