Abstract
Changes in nuclear structure were followed in the oocytes of adult minks from the primordial follicle stage to the Graaf vesicle stage. The dynamics compared well with other mammals studied. In mink oogenesis, an intensive production of nucleolus-like bodies occurs: there may be as many as 100/nucleus. In later stages of oocyte growth, ring-like extranuclear bodies were found which were not observed in other mammals. Karyosphere formation is similar to that in other mammalian species. It is observed earlier than usual; in the stage of multilayered follilce with the antrum. Due to this the karyosphere persists longer. Unlike in other species examined, the formation of the karyosphere as a dense Feulgen-positive body is not accompanied with a total disappearance of the nuclear envelope and nucleolus-like bodies. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
