Model of Ion Latent Tracks in a Polymer

Abstract
The spatial distribution of the damage caused by a single ion around its path in cellulose triacetate is obtained by means of the free radicals produced. In a previous paper, the free radical density at a distance x from the ion path had been taken to be proportional to the density of deposited energy D(x). Here, in order to improve the model, we introduce another term proportional to D2(x), allowing the continuity of (dm/dx)x=ro where ro is the radius of the track core. New values of ro are established for the conditions Z(18 and E-1.
